About Tatiana

Tatiana Martinez is a Salvadoran woman whose own immigration story informs everything she brings to her work.

Tatiana Martinez is a Salvadoran woman whose own immigration story informs everything she brings to her work. She uses the pronouns she/her. Her journey — in life and in becoming a therapist — has given her patience, the ability to truly listen, humility, and a deep gratitude for every client's path. She is an advocate for anyone who has ever felt misunderstood, judged, or overlooked — because of their race, skin color, sexual orientation, or the stereotypes others have placed on them.

Tatiana has been practicing in mental health since 2012, beginning with in-home ABA services for children with autism, moving through substance use and co-occurring disorders at ANKA Behavioral Health, and into community-based mental health with children and families in San Jose. Her passion for trauma-informed care and her personal experience with immigration continue to fuel her advocacy for accessible, quality mental health for marginalized communities and people of color.

What drew me to this work: My own immigration story and the barriers my community faced in accessing mental health care. My advocacy is personal before it is professional.

What to expect in the room: Patience, genuine listening, and zero judgment. I create space where nothing is too heavy and nothing is off limits. Don’t be surprised if you cry in the first session.

Outside the therapy room: Loves to watch anime, read books, go on hike/spend time outdoors, and dedicate time and love to my nieces and nephews.

I believe: "You will face many defeats in life, but never let yourself be defeated.” Maya Angelou — A guiding principle we carry into everything we do.
