About Dr. Lisa
Dr. Lisa Torres began her journey in mental health through music: teaching music to children in underserved communities and discovering early on that healing and creative expression are deeply connected. Dr. Lisa Torres began her journey in mental health through music — teaching music to children in underserved communities and discovering early on that healing and creative expression are deeply connected. That insight has shaped everything since. She holds a Bachelor's in Music Performance from Sacramento State, a Master's in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy from JFK University, and a Doctorate in Marriage & Family Therapy with a specialization in Child and Adolescent Therapy from National University, completed in 2024.
Over 15 years of work across nonprofits, schools, medical settings, and private practice has given Lisa a broad and deeply human perspective on what people need to heal. She works with youth, individuals, groups, intimate partners or moresomes, and families navigating trauma, depression, anxiety, blended family dynamics, self-harm, suicidality, and more — always tailoring her approach to the unique needs of the person in front of her.
What drew me to this work: Supporting young people and their families early on showed me how healing grows through connection, creativity, and understanding the bigger picture of someone’s life. That discovery continues to shape the way I practice therapy today.
What to expect in the room: A safe, supportive space where you are seen, heard, and respected. Sessions are collaborative and personalized, using conversation, creative exploration, and practical strategies to support your growth and whole-person wellbeing.
Outside the therapy room: A lifelong band geek, avid reader, true crime fan, and always looking for new ways to learn and be creative.
I believe: "Healing and growth unfold through creativity and connection.”
