About Alice

Alice is a bisexual Vietnamese American psychotherapist, anime enthusiast, and eternal learner.

Since 2013 she has been working with adults, teens, kids, and couples — specializing in Asian American clients, adolescents, and geeky LGBTQIA+ folx navigating identity, trauma, and everything in between. She likes to call herself a recovering Asian overachiever and continues on her journey of learning how to relax, enjoy life, and appreciate the small things. She draws on Brainspotting, Sandtray, Expressive Arts, and somatic interventions to help clients make the kind of personal transformation that lets them live the life they were meant to live.

What drew me to this work: Reading my high school psychology textbook from cover to cover was the first clue. When I went to college, I knew I didn’t want to be a “typical Asian” and major in pre-med but was lost as to what I should major in or which direction my life should go. From there, my first generation brother coached me strategically to major in something that I enjoyed so that I could get high grades. That turned out to be psychology. From there, I did a ton of research, figured out that there was a master’s level track that let me work with people, thought I would be poor, but turns out there’s a whole industry dedicated to mental health in the U.S.

What to expect in the room: Practicality. Dark humor. Brain and system-based explanations. Lowkey dread but coming to session anyways.

Outside the therapy room: Anime, creative pursuits, and fanfiction. A self-described geek and proud of it. I’m also in a mothering season of life so I am frequently exhausted with a smile on my face.
